From the President - Dee Tune
The end of the year is approaching at a pace, and the cast of We Will Rock You are all working hard to be ready for opening night. Having sat on the audition panel at the start of the process, it was fantastic to see such a talented bunch of individuals pulling together the lines, the chorey and the harmonies when I attended rehearsals last week. With just under five weeks to go for opening night, they’re on track to be hitting their straps and wowing Coffs audiences with their polished performances. Don’t forget to get your tickets to come and see this fabulous show, with many new faces joining several familiar ones strutting their stuff in Greg Wilson Jnr and Bec Nicholson’s awesome vision.
We have some great social events coming up as we head into the end of the year, so keep your eyes out for the notices, keep your trivia skills up to date and then come on out and join in the jolly fun with our Halloween Trivia and end of year Christmas get together.
CHMCC’s season next year is starting to come together, with a show for the May spot now locked in. November’s show is not quite as solidly stamped, but we’re confident that by the Jetty Theatre’s 2025 Season Launch in December of this year, we’ll have both shows ready to go.
As we roll through spring and into summer, I wish everyone a hay fever free season and can’t wait to catch up with you at We Will Rock You and the social events we have planned. Long Live Rock and Roll!!!

We Will Rock You! November 2024
With just one month until opening night, the excitement is truly building. In addition to directing, we’ve been hard at work with our talented cast member Brett Touzel, getting the sets ready. It’s been a whirlwind balancing directing, set building, and preparing the sound design to ensure everything is polished and show-ready.
Annamarie Cohen has been keeping the organisation going as our production manager and Dee Tune has been working hard as stage manager to enable a smooth transition to the theatre.
Finn Appleton, Craig Golding and Dustin Kerr have been working to bring the technical aspects of the show to life, which will bring the magic to the production.
The vocals, under the expert guidance of vocal director Kate Freeman, have become absolutely goosebump-worthy, while the band, led by the brilliant Rachel Crismale, is working tirelessly to deliver the signature We Will Rock You sound.
Tegan Haley’s choreography is dynamic and sharp, and alongside Bec they have worked together to polish every move. The choreography will have you mesmerised and wanting to jump out of your seat and dance along with the cast. Meanwhile, Rebecca Riches has been crafting some stunning, eye-catching costumes that will dazzle on stage.
The amazing band has already started joining the cast for a few rehearsals, and as we get closer to opening night, they’ll become a regular fixture. The entire cast and crew have worked hard to make this not only a production to remember but a positive and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words—so instead of more descriptions, enjoy some behind-the-scenes images! Be sure to check out the feature interview in Focus magazine for more insights.
Since this show is double-cast, we highly recommend grabbing tickets for both casts. Each lead brings something truly unique and captivating to the stage, offering a fresh, unforgettable experience with every performance. Don’t wait—this is a show not to be missed!
Warm regards,
Greg Wilson Jnr and Bec Nicholson

Companion Planting - CHATS - NOW until October 6th
Written and directed by Penny Dennis
The residents of the Swift Valley Retirement Village win a weekend-long garden makeover from the reality TV series, Perfect Plots with Perry Potts. It’s Saturday morning and the TV presenters and crew are due to arrive any minute. The residents are excited and a little anxious to meet the ‘stars’ of the show, especially the charismatic gardening guru, Perry Potts. But when filming hits a technical snag, it’s up to Perry’s adoring fan and elderly resident, Dallie, to save the day. All is going swimmingly until a story is leaked to the press that threatens to shut down the whole shoot. Meanwhile, Perry Potts has been weaving his magic. Love is in the air and, like roses and pigface, even the most unlikely couples thrive due to a little companion planting. |
The Effect - Et Tu Theatre - October 3rd - 13th
By Lucy Prebble
Connie and Tristan are both strangers when they sign up for a medical trial to test a powerful new antidepressant. But with each dose of medication, their attraction to each other grows. Is it real, or fuelled by the drug? Are they both even on the drug? Psychiatrist Dr Lorna James has concerns, but her supervisor Dr Toby Sealey doesn’t seem concerned… So what’s really going on? Written by award-winning playwright and screenwriter Lucy Prebble, The Effect is a celebrated play about love, sorrow and the different influences that can change us. |
Blithe Spirit - Dorrigo Dramatic Society - November 1st - 10th
Directed by Tamar Collier
Seeking inspiration for his next book, English socialite and novelist Charles Condomine invites eccentric medium Madame Arcati to the house he shares with his wife Ruth to conduct a séance. But they get far more than they bargained for when the evening's events go spectacularly awry and chaos and mischief ensue. Noël Coward's 'improbable farce' has been dazzling audiences since its premiere in 1941, with wit, charm and big laughs. |
Unnecessary Farce - The Players Theatre - October 11th - 27th
Directed by Steve Harris
Two cops, three crooks, eight doors, no waiting…. Unnecessary Farce is an award-winning stage comedy that combines all the elements of classic farce with a contemporary plot. In an economy motel room, an embezzling mayor is supposed to meet with his female accountant. In the room next door, two undercover cops are supposed to catch the meeting on videotape. But there’s some confusion as to who’s in which room, who’s watching the video, who’s taken the money, who’s hired a hit man, and why the accountant keeps taking off her clothes. |
The Lin & Lloyd Mixtape - Woolgoolga Performing Arts Studio - October 5th
By the Woolgoolga Performing Arts Studio’s Senior & Adult Students. This year’s WPAS Mixtape series shines a spotlight on the remarkable works of Lin-Manuel Miranda and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Experience a performance of cherished theatre moments brought to life by our talented TPP students. With minimal sets and props, this performance emphasizes authenticity and realism, allowing actors to connect deeply with each song and scene. Our students have also delved into directing techniques to create a seamless and cohesive presentation. |
Coffs Coast WPAS ALL STARS
The Junior Theatre Festival (JTF) in Atlanta, USA is the world’s largest celebration of young people performing musical theatre, and CHMCC are so incredibly proud to sponsor 6 up-and-coming performers, Shanaya, Josie , Ebony, Ella-Grace, Makaylah and Cleo, as they embark on the experience of a lifetime!
Late last year, these 6 individuals auditioned to be selected to attend the JTF in Atlanta in 2025, and out of over 1000 auditionees who applied for this experience, only 30 were selected, with 6 hailing from the Coffs Coast area! What an outstanding achievement!
If you would like to sponsor these performers, please email the Coffs Coast WPAS All Stars at [email protected]
You can also show your support by following them on Facebook, where they will be documenting their journey to Atlanta!
