Meet the 2021/2022 committee
President - Peter Hodges
Coming soon.
Vice President - Dee Tune
What is your name? Dee Tune.
What is your role in the committee? I'm Vice President for CHMCC. It means I help steer the company and support the President in fulfilling their obligations to the company.
Your connection to Coffs? We moved here in 2007 so this is my 16th year here in Coffs.
What was your first show that your starred in? My first role with CHMCC was playing Mrs Anna in The King and I in May 2011.
What was your most recent show you starred in? I was recently onstage for CHMCC's Back to the Theatre, however I directed the hugely successful show Mamma Mia in November 2021.
How many years have you been in theatre? I started in theatre at the age of 8, so have been involved for almost 40 years now.
What is your favourite memory of theatre in Coffs? Mary Poppins in 2016 was so much fun, but bringing Wicked to the stage in 2017 was a highlight. Also directing Agatha Christie's Mousetrap for CHATS was a big highlight.
What is your dream role? I'm too old for most of the ones I've always wanted to play now, but honestly, playing "The Countess" from Anastasia would be awesome!
Why did you join the CHMCC committee? Shows don't put themselves on, and community theatre companies don't run themselves. I used to say, I do theatre for fun, but now, I'm on the committee so other people can experience the fun, friendship and camaraderie of the theatre family. It's a community that I have experienced so much joy with and I want others to be able to have their own positive experience with the performing arts.
What do you want the public to know about you and your commitment to this Company? Theatre is for everyone and I feel we can achieve that whilst striving to create top quality shows for the people of the Coffs Coast region who spend their hard earned cash to come and be entertained by a bunch of theatre nerds who love performing.
What do you wish to achieve by the next AGM? CHMCC's main goal is to produce shows for cast to be in, people to learn about theatre and patrons to come to see and enjoy. To do that consistently, CHMCC needs to have the processes and procedures in place to support directors and production teams and move away from responses that are subject to whims of whoever is on the committee at the time. Consistency and accountability to the membership.
Anything extra you would like to add? CHMCC is built on the backs of those of our membership and those who are willing to sometimes step away from being in the limelight to do the hard, thankless work of being on the committee to make sure the company continues. For anyone that wants to know what it takes to get a show to the stage, talk to a committee member. The pay off for the committee is watching new members unfold their wings and fly for that first time, and having that comfortable camaraderie of shared memories with recurring members.

Treasurer - David Tune
What is your name? David Tune
What is your role in the committee? Treasurer - taking care of the finances of the society
What is your connection to Coffs? 15 years ago we moved here to further my wife Dee's career.
What was your first show that your starred in? Haven't really 'Starred' in any show (although I did play a 7-foot-tall green monster in Young Frankenstein), my first show on stage in Coffs was Pat Slattery's 'Jesus Christ Superstar'.
What was your most recent show you starred in? I had the distinct pleasure of playing Mr Badger in CHATS 'Toad of Toad Hall' directed by Rex Madigan.
How many years have you been in theatre? It works out to be 45 years since I was a stagehand for the Brisbane Gang Show and was convinced to go on stage the following year. I have been on and off stage ever since.
What is your favourite memory of theatre in Coffs? Probably directing 'Noises Off' with Rex for CHATS as it was a complex and challenging show, and we did a fantastic job of it. Closely followed by directing 'The Secret Garden' and 'Legally Blonde Jr'.
What is your dream role? Don't have one, time and treatment have taken away my ability to remember lines accurately, so unless I can ab-lib I'm probably up for bit parts and walk-ons if not directing or managing a show.
Why did you join the CHMCC committee? To be part of continuing and improving community theatre in Coffs Harbour. I have developed a skillset that means I can take on most roles needed on a management committee and in getting amateur theatre on stage, and I am prepared to contribute whatever it takes to the team to make it happen.
What do you want the membership to know about you and your commitment to this Company? I bring my honest effort and integrity to the Company, and as I am semi-retired, I can devote a lot of time to it. I am particularly interested in training new people in the many critical roles needed to manage and produce musicals.
What do you wish to achieve by the next AGM? Have implemented training for a new treasurer, as well as addressing the lack of experienced production managers, stage managers and tech people.
Anything extra you would like to add? I think the future of CHMCC lies in training new people and producing shows of the highest possible quality with unwavering integrity.
