If you've turned on TV, gone online or read a major newspaper, you will have seen the hype for the new Christopher Nolan film 'Oppenheimer' which opened yesterday in cinemas all across Australia. I'm personally very much looking forward to seeing the film based of the biography American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer. The film tells the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer's life and his work on the Manhattan project. For those of you with a keen eye you'll notice that our leading character, Leo Szilard is missing from the cast list, having yet again been erased from the narrative.

We are privileged to be able to tell this story from the perspective of the man without whom there would not have been a Manhattan project, the man who fought for the creation of the atomic bomb, and when the time came, fought the hardest that the atomic bombs never be used. But if you don't want to wait until November to learn the story behind the Genius in the Shadows, the man behind the bomb, Leo Szilard, why not book an audition slot and come help tell the story?

I've been asked the same few questions many times leading up to auditions and just want to address those for those who are might be putting off auditioning because of them. Firstly you don’t need to know the show to audition because guess what? Nobody really knows the show, there is very little footage online and unless you've been lucky enough to see it live, a couple clips on youtube and the original off-Broadway album on spotify is probably all you’ve seen or heard, the same as everyone else. Do you need to know or understand the history to audition? No not at all, you will learn the story as we learn the show, I don't expect anyone to be an expert on the history at all. And do I need to be a dancer to do this show? No, the choreography in this show is more stylized movement, all you need to be is willing to give it a try, that is all we ask.

ATOMIC gives us as artists, a unique opportunity to build our own vision, though creativity, story telling, movement, lighting, music and song and I would love to have you along for the ride.

Audition bookings close on the 22nd of July 2023. Auditions will be held on July 23rd, with call-backs on July 28th.

School of Rock finishes with a sell-out weekend!

It is unbelievable to think that School of Rock ended 6 weeks ago already! The cast and crew were so incredibly proud of this production, and immensely thankful to the Coffs Harbour community for supporting this show and giving it a sell out final weekend.

This was a highly enjoyable experience for all involved, with 33 cast, 17 adults and 15 teens, from 12 years old to their 70s, and over 15 crew, from directors to stage crew.

Our most popular shows were the matinees, as many families were able to attend together with their young children.

We had the first ever Auslan interpreted show, the first of hopefully many in Coffs theatre.

And we had three bands, the pit and two on the stage, a feat unheard of before in Coffs community theatre. Thanks to the amazing work of Greg Wilson Jnr for making everyone sound amazing every single night! Balancing the bands, and 33 headsets is not for the faint hearted. You were outstanding and there are no word to express what you did for this show!

Thank you to all that came to enjoy School of Rock, we hope it has inspired you in some way to get involved with theatre or music, be you 8 or 80!

Keep 'stickin' it to the man!',
