December 2018
Welcome to the last blog for 2018! It's been a huge year, culminating in a wonderful final performance of Les Misérables. Thank you to all who came to see the show, and who took the time to say how much they enjoyed it! It was certainly our biggest production yet, and one of which we're very proud. Huge thanks to everyone for their hard work on this production.
You can see the production photos in the web gallery: with thanks to Simon Whittaker for the photography.
We're welcoming the opportunity to take a break for a couple of weeks before auditioning for our first production of 2019 - Shrek the Musical! This is a fun show with great opportunities for both principal and the ensemble, and we encourage you to check it out on YouTube, or look for the DVD starring Brian D'Arcy Jones and Sutton Foster.
Auditions will be held over the weekend of January 12/13, and as usual, full details can be found on the auditions page.
Thanks to all those who turned out for our annual combined Christmas party with our friends at CHATS! A great time was had by all!
A very merry Christmas to all our members and friends, and we look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

From the President
Seasons greetings to all!
What an amazing year of theatre we have experienced in 2018.
CHMCC continues to produce quality theatrical experiences for the people of the Coffs Coast and we have certainly lived up to all expectations in 2018.
The two major productions of Seussical and Les Miserables saw two first-time Directors at the helm. Thank you to Ainsley Corbett and Paul McLeod for their tireless efforts to ensure these productions were a success. There were some steep learning curves for both directors but with the support of our hardworking committee and support personnel, they managed to pull through.
I would like to also thank our wonderful cast members, production teams, construction teams, backstage crew, lighting/sound engineers, musicians and various crew members for the tireless amounts of work that go into producing such quality shows. These productions don't just magically happen, there are countless hours that go into having them ready for our audiences.
Our committee continue to work extremely hard to produce shows for our audiences. Again, there are many behind the scenes hours that are given generously by our committee. Thank you to our current committee, Judi Williams, Di O'Ferrall, Peter Hodges, Shalla Thomas, Pam Lane, Russell Lane, John Greene, Ursula Kay and Paul McLeod. I would also like to recognise and thank the outgoing members, Cate Walsh, Lauren Corbett and Ainsley Corbett for their dedication and commitment.
Our Junior committee certainly exceeded all expectations with their production of Alice in Wonderland Junior this year. Entirely directed by members of the junior committee, this was a resounding success. Thank you to our juniors and the hard work they put into this amazing production.
I am looking forward to 2019 and our season. We are presenting a modern classic, Shrek - The Musical in May, directed by Donna Fairall and a timeless classic, South Pacific in November, directed by Judi Williams.
All the best for the festive season and enjoy time with your loved ones.

From the Director
We heard the people sing! We climbed to the light! And together, we lit a flame that will ever die!
This amazing experience called Les Miserables has finally come to an end, and it has been a show filled with so many exceptional efforts. I want to give a collective thank you to all who contributed their love and labour with such generosity to bring my vision to life, and to leave Coffs Harbour theatre patrons in such awe.
It was a life-altering experience for me and I know the joy it has given me will never be extinguished. I am so proud of all we achieved together. Sold out performances, standing ovations and superlative reviews are worthy and positive rewards, but more importantly, over five months, we built a family. And it will be your loving kindness to me - and to each other - that will be my fondest memories of all.

Auditions
I am very excited and thankful to be given the opportunity to direct for the fourth time for CHMCC!!
I love being part of fun, family shows with bright colours, big dance numbers and lots of laughs. Shrek the Musical definitely ticks all the boxes for me.
There are fun Fairy Tale characters of all ages in this show. There are roles for children as young as 8 years and as old as….. wait…..you’re never too old! But to be in this show you really need to be able to laugh at yourself and have some fun. We are looking for bright personalities and animated characters. While there have been several rewrites since the DVD version with Sutton Foster was released, it is still a great representation of all the characters in the show.
It is not a children’s show but one for the whole family.
Auditions are on the weekend of 12th/13th January. Adults 16 years and over on the Saturday and children 8 – 15 years on the Sunday.
We will be jumping straight in to rehearsals on Sunday 20th and rehearsals will be Monday and Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons.
For more details regarding characters, ages and vocal ranges go to the Auditions page. Keep in mind for auditions, it is not how old you are but how old (or young) you look on stage! The ages specified are a general overview of what we are looking for.
Hope to see lots of talent and excited people at auditions who are wanting to be part of the SHREK journey with me!

CHMCC/CHATS Combined Christmas Party
It was great to see such a good turn out to our annual Christmas party co-hosted by CHMCC and our friends at CHATS. Presidents Tim Egan (CHMCC) and Dave Tune (CHATS) turned out scores of bacon and egg rolls, and Rex Madigan kept the champagne flowing!
