From the President
Hello and welcome to our latest newsletter. I hope you all had an enjoyable festive season and are ready for some amazing local theatre in 2023!
A huge congratulations to everyone who was successfully cast in our May production of “School of Rock”. It is sure to be an amazing show and kudos to Fiona and her production team for the unenviable task of actually casting the show. No mean feat, and when you’re a debut director it can be a daunting prospect! Rehearsals will begin imminently and I know the cast can’t wait to get started. Be sure to grab your tickets, which are already on sale.
Our friends at CHATS are also hard at work in rehearsals for their production of “Avenue Q”, which hits the stage in late March. Again, tickets are on sale now and you don’t want to miss this hilarious (and ribald!) show. A word of warning, it’s 18+ for a reason!
That will do from me for now.
See you at the theatre!

From the Secretary
Hello everyone!
We have had a very busy and exciting time since the last newsletter. We attended the Jetty Memorial Theatres Season Launch (December 6th) and had our yearly joint Christmas Brunch at the Jetty Memorial Theatre (December 11th) and we had a successful karaoke night at the Plantation Hotel (December 17th)! Thank you to everyone who attended our social events.
We also busily organised EOIs for School of Rock and held auditions over several days. Thank you to those who put forth an EOI and attended auditions! Congratulations to all who were successful in being cast in the show.
That's all from me with the Secretary hat on.
Fiona xx

From the Director - School of Rock
Since the last newsletter, we have held auditions for School of Rock!
The amount of talent in Coffs Harbour astounds me and I am so grateful to all those who auditioned for School of Rock - there were nearly 40 people! What a turn-out!
I would like to extent a very warm welcome to our vocal coach Kate Freeman, and Lighting Designer Laura Trewavas! Both have a wealth of knowledge and experience in their specific areas and are very excited to be involved with the production, as to am I for having them on the production team.
Unfortunately we said 'see you later' to Maureen Burgess, as she needed to exit her role within the production team and cast due to work commitments - we are thankful for your help and guidance through the initial phase of the production and look forward to you coming to see the final production in May. If you want a delicious vegan friendly dish, make sure to check out Fork Knows at 5/44 Moonee St, Coffs Harbour NSW 2450.
In other news, the set design is well underway, and let me tell you - you are about to be ROCKED! Huge thanks to the wonderful due Greg Wilson Jr and Rebecca Nicholson for their work in this area - I am so very excited to get this set up!
We also have secured a great pit band, lead by the AMAZING Rachel Crismale (keys) as MD. Our pit band includes Glen Hitchon (guitar), Garth Harriman (guitar), Matt Turnbull (drums), and Tommy Wainwright (bass). We cannot wait to see what you all sound like once we all come together for the sitzprobe later on in the rehearsals.
Can you believe also that tickets are ALREADY ON SALE?! Head over to the Jetty Memorial Theatres website to purchase your tickets now.
Keep rockin'!

What's On - CHATS
9 SHOWS ONLY! March 31st - April 9th
Directed by David Tune
Winner of the Tony “Triple Crown” for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart.
The laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton, who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that, although the residents seem nice, it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life.
Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention puppets, Avenue Q is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere. Although the show addresses humorous adult issues, it is similar to a beloved children’s show; a place where puppets are friends, Monsters are good and life lessons are learned.
Music and Lyrics: Robert Lopez & Jeff Marx | Book by Jeff Whitty
