Loosely based on Puccini's classic opera La Boheme, RENT is a rock opera tour de force. Having won a multitude of awards, including four Tonys, as well as a Pulitzer Prize, CHMCC was thrilled to bring this powerhouse production to Coffs Harbour.
Set in New York's East Village over a period of one year, RENT follows the lives of a cast of characters including Mark - the struggling, would-be filmmaker, Mimi - an exotic dancer, and Angel - the sweet-hearted, transvestite Good Samaritan, alongside their friends and cohorts as they all struggle with the challenges of poverty, HIV and paying the rent. Musical numbers include "Seasons of Love", "La Vie Boheme", and "The Tango Maureen".

Rent was directed by Maureen Burgess, with musical direction by Peter Kaukiainen.
