July 2022
Hello and welcome to the latest edition of the CHMCC newsletter! It’s been a very busy couple of months for us (as I’m sure it has been for you too).
A huge congratulations to Billie-Jo, Rebecca and the entire cast and crew for a fabulous season of “Wizard of Oz Young Performers Edition”. I’m sure everyone will agree that it was a thoroughly entertaining and very professional production from our youngest members. A big thank you to everyone involved.
We are VERY excited to now be in rehearsals for our November productions of “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert”. This iconic Australian show, directed by the amazing Vanessa Crossley, is sure to be a hit. Tickets are on sale now and will be in hot demand, so I encourage you to secure yours before it’s too late.
We will be announcing out 2023 season in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned to our socials for updates. Next year promises to be epic!
On a final note, our Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 28 August from 1pm (sharp) at Coffs Harbour Education Campus “O” Block (venue and time change from previous notification). I encourage all financial members to come along and have your say about the future of our company. Committee nomination forms are available on our website and must be received by the company secretary by 14th August. Only financial members are eligible to vote at the meeting and memberships must be valid and financial by 6th August. We are always on the lookout for new committee members, so please consider giving something back to the company.
That’s it from me for now. Until next time!
See you at the theatre.

Priscilla Update
Hello all and welcome to our Priscilla update.
Auditions were a great success, and we thank everyone who attended. You were all marvellous and we would like to congratulate everyone who made it into the cast.
We have been in rehearsals for 2 weeks now and the cast is amazing. Our Dance team, led by the talented Gabby Shanks, have begun dancing their way through the enormous 17 dance numbers in the show. Maureen Burgess, our amazing Musical Director, has already started teaching our cast the first act. With some complex harmonies, the cast has their work cut out for them, but with the shear talent and experienced guidance of Mauz, I know they will all deliver!
As is the way since 2020, Covid has hit us hard. With rehearsals on hold due to many isolators we hope everyone stays safe and well. But covid won’t hold us down for long!
The amazing shed team, lead by Rex has started the monumental task of building the star of our show, The Bus. With special thanks to Brett Touzel for the loan of his shed space, without which our bus would be homeless during this process.
Whilst we do have an amazing cast, we have sadly had to say goodbye to Danielle Bienefelt who was cast as Marion. After an amazing last-minute audition, we have welcomed Samantha Fauchon into the role. We are still on the look out for one Female Soprano ensemble member and one Male Ensemble member to join out cast. If this is you, please email [email protected] to audition.
With the arrival of our costumes, curtesy of CLOC hire, we will be in need of sewers to help make costume adjustments. If you can sew and are available on Sunday 9th October, please get in touch with our secretary via [email protected].
We can’t wait to get this show on the road and join everyone in November for a journey through the outback.
Until then get your sequins and feathers ready,
Vanessa Crossley
Director
