Welcome!
'It's been a busy couple of months for us at CHMCC! We held auditions in January for our May production of Shrek, and are really excited about our cast! See the full cast list.
Pictured above is Peter Creenaune (PC) as Lord Farquaad: "Let's hear it for those Duloc dancers, aren't they terrific?!" Shrek rehearsals are now in full swing, and you can see a few more fun rehearsal photos below.
We also held a screening party in January to view the video of our production of Les Mis (made under license and sorry, available to cast and crew only), which was a great opportunity for the cast to catch up and bid farewell to our Valjean, Josh Vucicevic, who has returned to Ballarat as Music Director for Bloc Music Theatre's production of 'Beauty and the Beast'. We wish him all the best for the show and hope he'll come back to Coffs as soon as it's over!
Many of our members also took part in the 'Inspiring Artists' community concert in Coramba, where a wonderful time was had by all. Congratulations to Jade Naidu for organising the event! Check out Naidu Performing Arts for more theatrical opportunities for all ages.
If you or your child is aged 12-18 then we hope you'll come along to CHMCC Junior's AGM on Sunday March 3rd and get involved with the Junior committee. A full length musical may not always have many opportunities for children, so CHMCC Junior hopes to provide opportunities for theatrical activities for young people.
Finally we would like to ask anyone interested in directing a show for CHMCC in 2020 to please get in touch. We are already planning our 2020 season and would love to hear expressions of interest from anyone willing and able to direct a show. We look forward to hearing from you!

Welcome to another exciting year of musical theatre!
We have successfully cast the upcoming May production of “Shrek, The Musical” and we were lucky to be spoilt for choice through this process. Thank you to everyone who took the time to prepare and audition for Shrek.
Donna and the cast have commenced the rehearsal process and things have been very upbeat and positive over the first month of rehearsals. This is one for all ages to see, a fun filled, light-hearted show that has something for everyone. There will be many highlights and a few special cameo performances for all to enjoy.
Tickets are on sale now so get in and organise your visit to the Jetty theatre for Shrek in May 2019.
Our junior committee have also started planning events for 2019. They are considering a junior workshop in the winter school holidays so watch this space for more!
The junior AGM will be held on Sunday March 3 at the O block theatre CHEC campus, commencing at 11:30am. Any student aged 12-18 can nominate to go onto this committee.
Our CHMCC committee have continued to work tirelessly to plan 2019 and we are also looking to run some workshops, more on the technical aspects of the theatre, so again watch out for those opportunities.
We are also planning for our November production of South Pacific, directed by Judi Williams and some big news for the launch of our 2020 season!

The Shrek ‘Freak Flag’ is flying high, with an enthusiastic cast of 37 people, ranging from 9 years to 73 years! Thank you so much to everyone who auditioned. We certainly had an amazing selection of talent to choose from.
I have had several people ask me recently, “How are Shrek rehearsals going?” My answer is simple. We are having SO… MUCH… FUN! There is such a fantastic atmosphere of positivity and encouragement within the cast and just way too many laughs at every rehearsal. Our gorgeous teen Fiona, Grace Blythe made a cake to share last weekend, much to the delight of Shrek and the rest of the cast. Everyone is working hard learning songs with Tim Egan and chorey with myself. Just last week, Lord Farquaard and his Duloc dancers learned the entire ‘What’s Up Duloc’ routine in one night! The bulk of our costumes are being hired from Gosford Musical Society, while our props are being organised by Sharon Edwards. A big thanks to Beckley Vincent who has already assisted with accent coaching and of course Rex and the shed boys as they tackle yet another colourful set. Narina Carter is currently researching stage makeup and prosthetics, with the aim to create the perfect Shrek! Tickets are already on sale and this incredibly funny show is one for the entire family. You won’t want to miss it! Shrek Director, Donna Fairall |
"Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!"
