June 2020
Welcome
Welcome to the June newsletter - the Covid edition!
As I write this introduction, I can’t help but think bring on 2021 and we are only half way through the year! This year has brought many challenges for much of our membership but, I can’t help but be inspired by the creativity, collaboration and sense of community that I have seen birthed from the isolation that many are experiencing.
It makes me think of a quote from the great Albert Einstein "Creativity is contagious, pass it on." Whilst we face a different kind of virus presently, we can always be confident that our creativity will infect those around us in a positive way and Community Theatre is a great vehicle to do this.
The committee has continued meeting each month to ensure we can outline the best plan on how to proceed with our 2020 season. In light of the uncertainty of what the next few months may bring, we have made the difficult decision to postpone all planned productions for 2020 until 2021.
For those involved in these productions please refer to the communication which has been sent to you by the Production Team as to what this means for you or contact myself for further details.
We are however planning to produce some small scale productions later this year (pending restrictions) and look forward to sharing further details with you in the near future. Stay tuned to our social media channels and email communications in the coming months.
Our Annual General Meeting is fast approaching and will be held on Sunday August 30th August at 10am (Venue TBC). The date set at the last AGM was Sunday 23rd of August, however due to COVID-19 we have made the decision to postpone to the following week to enable further review of restrictions.
If you'd like to nominate for a position on the committee, you can download a nomination form. Forms must be returned to the Secretary by August 23rd. You can mail it to our PO Box below or scan and email it to us.
Stay safe, and keep your eye out for updates as they come to hand.
Kind Regards
Jake Fisher
Secretary

From the President
Greetings all!
Well 2020 has turned out to be a very frustrating year theatre wise. Even now we are restricted in our plans due to the unpredictable nature of the theatre opening. However, we do have plans for shows in the November slot, which, all things going well, will provide plenty of work for our members and some excellent entertainment for the community. Sadly our originally planned productions of “Into the Woods” and “Mamma Mia” will be put back until 2021 but they will go ahead and I am sure will be great fun for all involved.
Something else to look forward to is our AGM in August and here is something you can all be involved in. I have decided that after nearly 30 years of involvement with the company that it is time I stepped down from committee and pursued life at a gentler pace. Which is not to say I will be leaving the company but that I will be taking a less active role. As a life member I am always going to be available to help the company wherever I am needed. This means that all those folk who in the past felt they had a good idea or a new direction that they thought we should take will have the opportunity to step up to the mark and get actively involved.
Now just in case the rumour mongers think my decision has some underlying reason be assured that this is something I (with the support of my wonderful husband Grahame, who is also a life member ) have made alone.
So folks now is your chance! Contact Jake for a nomination form and rally your friends to attend the AGM as I know there is going to be vacancies.
May I finally say what an absolute pleasure it has been to serve the company. I have felt such pride in our theatrical achievements and made such wonderful relationships with fabulous people who will remain friends for life.
Looking forward to see you all in the theatre soon.

CHMCC President
From the Director
What a journey through the woods it has certainly been for us all, not only inside of the production period, but most recently outside of it, waiting for an opening... (night). Whilst it has been an unusual time in the uncertainty, and change of lifestyle as a result of COVID-19, I do hope and pray that amidst the negatives you have been able to find some of your own positives. I hope it has been a time of rest, reflection, and growth - I know it certainly has for me and I so look forward to getting back into the rehearsal room with as many, if not all, of our original cast, my wonderful woodland friends.
The Committee and myself have had a number of conversations regarding how we proceed, I apologise we have not/could not have more concrete information for you sooner. There were so many things to consider with so many factors out of our control. Trust that at all times the CHMCC Committee and myself, had our cast at the heart of our conversations, and decisions.
I want to re-iterate, that all current cast members who still wish to be involved in this production whether it be May, or November can trust that their current casting will still be honoured, however some changes may take place... I have asked the current cast to communicate their availability for a possible season in May, or a possible season in November. We want to be able to maintain as much of our original cast as possible which will form a large component of our decision making in setting a date, among other factors. This information will also help us identify how we proceed should a particular cast member be unable to continue, and which roles will need to be re-auditioned for.
If for any reason you are unable to continue with us in 2021, we do apologise, and ask for your understanding as the circumstances were unforeseeable. We ask that ALL current cast please communicate with us. We completely understand that with new rehearsal and performance dates, or other reasons, that you may be unable to commit to the process and that is OK. We are working on a way to create a performance piece (possibly and online performance piece/video) of our original cast performing either the opening or closing number from the show, as we so want to celebrate the wonderful work that you all had put in. More details to follow...
Take care,
Josh Vucicevic
Into the Woods Director,
2020 Season
Sadly, both of our productions planned for 2020 will now be deferred to 2021.
We would like to thank Into the Woods Director Josh Vucicevic, and all the cast and creative team, and Mamma Mia Director, Dee Tune for all the work they have put into these productions already. We look forward to bringing them to the stage!
